Relationship Officer
Location: Ikoyi, Lagos (Hybrid) Employment Type: Full-time
Job Purpose
- The Relationship Officer is a member of the Sales team responsible for acquiring, onboarding, and managing customers for NairaPoint Finance's loan products (assets) and Fixed Deposit products (liabilities), as well as cross-selling savings and investment products.
- The role carries a monthly sales target of ₦250 million each in loan (asset) booking and Fixed Deposit (liability) mobilization, and ensures consistent achievement of these targets, quality loan origination and credit assessment, strong customer relationships and retention, healthy repayment performance, and adherence to CBN regulations and the Company's ethical lending standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Acquisition & Sales:
- Achieve an assigned monthly sales target of ₦250 million in loans (assets) and ₦250 million in Fixed Deposits (liabilities), through consistent daily prospecting and disciplined pipeline management.
- Prospect and acquire new borrowers for NairaPoint's loan products (SME and salary-earner loans) through field visits, referrals, calls, and presentations.
- Mobilize Fixed Deposits from individuals, SMEs, corporates, and high-net-worth prospects to grow the Company's deposit base and lower its cost of funds.
- Cross-sell savings, investment, and wealth management products to existing customers and refer qualified leads to Wealth Managers and the Merchant POS & Agency Banking team.
- Maintain a sales pipeline and report on leads, conversions, loan disbursements, deposit inflows, and progress against targets to the Head of Sales.
Loan Origination & Credit Assessment:
- Guide customers through loan application, KYC, and documentation requirements, ensuring files are complete and accurate.
- Assess loan applications, conduct credit risk analysis, and evaluate customers' repayment capacity and credibility.
- Prepare credit reports and recommend approval or decline decisions in line with the Company's credit policy.
- Coordinate with Credit, Risk, and Operations teams to ensure timely processing and disbursement of approved loans.
Customer Relationship & Portfolio Management
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers to drive repeat business, top-ups, referrals, and retention.
- Monitor repayment schedules, remind customers of due payments, and follow up promptly on delinquent accounts, escalating to the Loan Recovery team where necessary.
- Support the quality of the loan portfolio by keeping delinquency and portfolio-at-risk within approved limits.
Compliance, Ethics & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with CBN and fintech lending regulations, KYC/AML requirements, data privacy rules, and the Company's code of conduct.
- Represent products transparently, disclosing rates, fees, and repayment terms clearly, and never make unauthorized promises or collect funds outside approved channels.
- Submit daily and weekly sales activity reports and gather market and competitor feedback for sales leadership.
Person Specification
General Education:
- Minimum of HND or Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline.
Professional Qualification:
- Professional certification (e.g., CIBN, ACCA, ICAN, or a credit/sales certification) is an added advantage.
Experience
- 4 – 8 years of experience in sales, lending, credit analysis, or relationship management within a microfinance bank, finance house, bank, or fintech.
- Strong knowledge of loan, savings, and investment products, credit risk analysis, and fintech operations.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding high-value sales targets in loan origination and deposit mobilization. An existing network of SMEs or salary earners in Lagos is an added advantage.

Remuneration
-
Base salary plus performance-based commission.

Commission is earned on approved and disbursed loans (assets) and funded Fixed Deposits (liabilities), as well as other savings and investments, generated by the officer.

Commission rates, targets, and payment timelines are as set out in the Company's commission schedule and may be reviewed from time to time.

Commission is payable only on qualifying, compliant sales (e.g., fully documented, KYC-verified, and approved or funded).
