Job title: Registrar’s Clerk / Administration Clerk (Legal) – Entry Level (OCJ)
About the Role The Office of the Chief Justice invites unemployed youth to apply for entry-level government opportunities as Registrar’s Clerk and Administrative Clerk (Legal) across the Constitutional Court in Braamfontein and Johannesburg-based courts in Gauteng. The roles support registry, administrative and logistics functions in line with relevant legislation.
What You'll Do
- Maintain the registry and safekeeping of documents/records in the Private Office in line with relevant legislation and policies.
- Render clerical, secretarial, stocktaking and auxiliary services, including driving, travel arrangements and transport.
- Provide financial and human resource administration support.
- Provide information and assist with Court Online/Case lines queries, and support case registration and statistics capture.
- Assist with case flow management, logistics for meetings (minute taking, packs, distribution of agendas and minutes) and statistics gathering.
- Support officials with logging calls, resolving inquiries and reporting on court performance.
What We're Looking For
- Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification; valid driver’s license. Advantageous: National Diploma (NQF 6) with 360 credits and at least 1 year administration experience (preferably in a court environment).
- Knowledge of record management and archives; understanding of legislative frameworks governing the Public Service; knowledge of PFMA, PAIA, POPIA; Batho Pele Principles.
- Knowledge and skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); strong communication, numeracy, interpersonal, problem solving, time management, and administrative skills.
- High level of confidentiality, reliability, ability to work well in a team and take initiative; attention to detail and accuracy; ability to work under pressure.
Nice to Have
- For Registrar’s Clerk (Gauteng High Court, Johannesburg): A three-year relevant qualification (National Diploma at NQF level 6) with 360 credits and at least one year of administration experience.
- For Administration Clerk (Legal): LLB degree.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: R228,321 - R268,950 per annum (Level 05).
