About the Role
Endeavor Health is seeking a Part-Time Registered Nurse specialized as SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) to provide medical forensic exams and compassionate care to adult/adolescent sexual assault survivors in the Evanston Hospital Emergency Department or inpatient units. The role includes independent forensic assessments, detailed documentation, and collaboration with law enforcement, survivor advocates, and attorneys. Hours include on-call duties with a minimum of 24 hours available per six‑week schedule.
What You'll Do\
- Performs duties of SANE with knowledge of forensic collection, STIs, medications, and addressing vicarious trauma for survivors.\
- Attends SANE meetings for peer/chart review and information dissemination to ensure compliance and standards per Professional Forensic Scopes and Standard Practices (SASETA) and the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.\
- Collaborates with the Swedish Hospital Emergency Department, Violence Prevention Program, Illinois State and Chicago Police Departments, Resilience, and the Illinois SANE Coordinator.\
- Attends courtroom proceedings related to Swedish Hospital sexual assault cases.
What We're Looking For\ - Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.\
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.\
- Successful completion and certification of AA SANE training through the Office of the Illinois Attorney General or certification approved by the Illinois Attorney General SANE Coordinator.\
- Prior experience in forensic nursing preferred.\
- Proficient computer literacy for Epic or willingness to train after hire.
