About the Role UC Health is hiring a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) for Step Down, Night Shift in West Chester, OH. The RN will assess patients, implement and document care, and collaborate with the health care team. The role requires an Ohio nursing license and offers opportunities for professional growth within a leading academic health system.
What You'll Do
- Engage in population-appropriate communication and assess development milestones and tasks.
- Provide clear instructions to patients and families regarding treatment; involve family/guardian in assessment and ongoing care.
- Identify physical limitations and deploy interventions; respond to behavioral health needs; interpret population-related data and plan care accordingly.
- Perform treatments, administer medications, and operate equipment safely; recognize signs of abuse or neglect.
- Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, admission histories, and educational needs assessments; initiate referrals as needed.
- Reassess patient needs each shift; ensure patient and environmental safety; communicate plans of care to all care team members.
- Develop and coordinate interdisciplinary plans of care; prioritize care and manage plan execution.
- Implement nursing actions and interventions; delegate appropriately; ensure adherence to standards of care and policies.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, emergency response readiness, and infection control competency; collaborate with the health care team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Participate in discharge planning and ongoing professional development.
What We're Looking For
- Current Ohio RN license required.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Unit experience varies; new grads considered for med-surg; many specialties prefer 2+ years of experience.
- Competency in assessment, medication administration, infection control, and documentation.
Nice to Have
- BSN degree preferred (if not already required).
