Job title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
About the Role Join the Pediatric Cardiac ICU team at Inova's L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital in Falls Church, VA. The RN provides clinical practice and care coordination for critically ill pediatric patients with heart conditions and their families, across day and night shifts.
What You'll Do
- Perform comprehensive pediatric health assessments and interpret multiple data sets to inform care plans.
- Develop individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and population trends.
- Deliver patient- and family-centered care and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Document all patient care activities in accordance with standards and assist team members with documentation.
- Coordinate transitions and referrals to appropriate services; provide patient education and support.
- Mentor and guide other staff, act as a clinical resource/preceptor, and support unit activities as needed.
- Use clinical guidelines, pathways, and evidence to drive delivery of care and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to performance improvement initiatives through evaluation of outcomes and data.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Registered Nurse licensed or eligible for licensure in Virginia (or active multi-state RN license).
- BLS certification; PALS within 6 months of hire.
- 1+ year of nursing experience.
- Education: Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Nursing; if ADN, must complete BSN within 5 years of start date.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills; ability to work within a high-acuity pediatric cardiac environment.
- Availability for day/night shift rotation.
Nice to Have
- Experience in pediatric cardiac ICU, transplant, or device management.
- Prior experience as a preceptor or clinical mentor.

- Salary: $39-$64 per hour.
