About the Role The role is a part-time Registered Nurse position in LOH Geropsych at LOH Naperville Main Hospital. You will assess patient conditions, develop and implement care plans, document care, and evaluate outcomes while maintaining a safe, therapeutic milieu and coordinating admissions, transfers, and handoffs. What You'll Do
- Regularly perform duties of professional nurse including assessing patients' condition, developing and administering plans of care, documenting care, and evaluating outcomes.
- Warmly welcome patients to the unit and promote a safe, therapeutic milieu; supervise direct care staff as needed.
- Ensure rounds are assigned and precaution records completed in real time.
- Collaborate with Resource and Referral Department to facilitate patient admissions and transfers.
- Provide thorough hand-off communication at admission, transfer, discharge, and when boarding patients.
- Interact with patient, family, and other health care providers to collect and analyze data on physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning needs.
- Participate in interdisciplinary planning; ensure medical problems are incorporated into the treatment plan.
- Assist in development and attainment of nursing department goals; participate in activities to improve departmental functioning and professional competence.
- Assist in selection and orientation of qualified personnel; evaluate suggestions and criticisms and adjust as needed; participate in program evaluation.
- Attend in-service programs; serve as role model and resource for staff and students; explain policies; engage with community groups to advance mental health knowledge.
- Supervise direct patient care as required; operate within budgetary constraints including staffing, overtime, and supplies/equipment. What We're Looking For
- Nursing degree with active Illinois RN license.
- CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within 90 days of hire.
- One-year psychiatric experience (preferred).
- Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology and understanding of therapeutic systems and rewards/consequences. Nice to Have
- Additional psychiatric experience and/or training is preferred. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $36.00 - $55.80 per hour.
