About this role

About the Role The Staff Nurse will deliver safe and compassionate nursing care for all patient populations by planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care. The Staff Nurse will collaborates with nurses, physicians, and other members of the clinical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care. What You'll Do

  • Regularly perform duties of professional nurse including assessing patients' condition, developing and administering patient plan of care, documenting care administered, and evaluating patient care outcomes.
  • Warmly welcome patients to the unit. Promote and maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu by providing appropriate supervision and feedback to direct care staff.
  • Ensure rounds are assigned and precaution records completed in real time. Collaborate with Resource and Referral to facilitate admissions and transfers.
  • Provide thorough hand-off communication upon admission, transfer or discharge and when sending or receiving boarding patients.
  • Interact with patient, family, and health care providers to collect/analyze data regarding physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning needs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary planning process and ensure medical problems are included in the treatment plan.
  • Assist in development/attainment of nursing department goals; participate in activities to improve department functioning and professional competence.
  • Assist in selecting/orienting qualified personnel; participate in program evaluation.
  • Attend in-service programs/trainings; serve as a role model and resource for students; explain policies/procedures to staff and patients; engage with community groups to further understanding of mental health problems.
  • Supervise direct patient care as required; manage budget considerations including staffing, overtime, supplies and equipment. What We're Looking For
  • Nursing degree and current Illinois RN license; CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Maintain information as highly confidential.
  • CPI certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with interprofessional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in program evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge/experience in psychiatric settings and in developing care plans for diverse patient populations. Nice to Have
  • One-year psychiatric experience (preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology (preferred)
  • Familiarity with therapeutic level systems and rewards/consequences (preferred) Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $36.00 - $55.80 hourly plus premium pay for shift/on-call/holiday and incentives for certain positions.
