About the Role The Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery on the Night Shift delivers safe, compassionate nursing care and collaborates with the clinical team to plan, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care for obstetric patients and other populations as needed. This role supports night shifts with weekend rotation and a 36-hour work week at Evanston Hospital, Evanston IL. What You'll Do

  • Develops a plan of care identifying interventions to achieve outcomes and consistently evaluates progress, revising diagnoses and interventions as needed.
  • Performs patient assessments and collects health data from patient, family, and providers; communicates plan of care to patient/family and to the physician and interdisciplinary team; documents data and communications.
  • Individualizes patient and family teaching based on comprehensive assessment, considering cultural background and learning styles; teaches disease management, emergency care, and medications; identifies community resources for self-management.
  • Communicates plan of care to patient and family regularly, respecting patient wishes and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes.
  • Documents patient health data, interventions and communications; collaborates with physicians and the care team.
  • Supports professional development of peers, students and other health care providers; contributes to a supportive environment for clinical education; delegates tasks as needed.
  • Nurtures a compassionate environment by providing psychological support.
  • Assists technical staff with injection of contrast, venipuncture, administration of drugs, oxygen therapy, and IV management.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and nursing research; stays current with wound/ostomy/skin care trends.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations; assists in transporting acutely ill patients as needed. What We're Looking For
  • Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL.
  • Graduate of an NLN-accredited school of nursing; BSN strongly preferred.
  • BLS/CPR Certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • 2 years Labor and Delivery or acute care nursing experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience with wound/ostomy/skin care is a plus. Nice to Have
  • Prior Labor and Delivery experience. Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly pay range: $36.00 - $55.80 per hour (USD).
