About the Role The Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Cardio-thoracic Intensive Care Unit (PCTU) at Mott Children's Hospital cares for high-acuity patients in a technology-intensive environment, including ECMO, CRRT and VADs, in collaboration with cardiology and cardiothoracic teams. The role emphasizes family-centered care and empowerment of families to participate in decisions and care during ICU admission. What You'll Do
- Provide nursing care in a technology-intensive PCTU, including ECMO, CRRT and VADs.
- Perform complex physiologic patient assessments in a high-acuity environment with rapidly changing status.
- Care for patients undergoing progressive surgical and catheterization interventions.
- Partner with cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons and fellows to educate and support patients and families throughout the ICU stay.
- Contribute to a culture of patient- and family-centered care and participate in family education and planning.
- Support unit expansion (PCTU is expanding by 9 beds in spring 2027). What We're Looking For
- Current Michigan Registered Nurse License.
- 12-24 months of current pediatric acute care RN experience.
- PALS certification required (or within six months of date of hire) or must be completed prior to end of probationary period.
- Resume required for consideration (internal & external applicants). Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of and experience with the congenital heart patient population.
- BSN preferred.
- PALS or ACLS.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong collaborative skills.
- Knowledge of the principles of Patient- and Family-Centered Care.
