Job title: Regional Project Engineer

About the Role Regional Project Engineer in Corning's Optical Communications segment leading automation and equipment projects across APAC to deliver robust, cost-effective manufacturing equipment and systems.

What You'll Do

  • Provide engineering analysis and technical leadership to project teams delivering equipment, automation, and machine systems for Corning's manufacturing plants on time and on budget.
  • Lead and coordinate with APAC project team members to troubleshoot automation and equipment issues and develop understanding of process requirements.
  • Define and document equipment design specifications, develop concepts, prototype and production equipment, conduct proof-of-concept tests, collect data, and make engineering recommendations.
  • Interface with external machine builders, systems integrators, and suppliers to deliver fully integrated equipment on-time, on-budget, and meeting process performance targets.
  • Participate in system integration, checkout, installation, debug, production start-up, and training of plant personnel.
  • Report on project activities on a predetermined basis and ensure results meet customer requirements.
  • Travel occasionally to Corning plants and vendor sites for process development and new product introduction.
  • Execute project assignments with minimal supervision.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of project leading experience.
  • 5~8+ years major in engineering (BS or higher) in Mechanical, Aeronautic or related fields.
  • 5+ years of international project experience involving new product development and new automation equipment development, prototyping, debugging and optimization.
  • 3+ years cable assembly or optical communication industrial experience.
  • Good understanding of mechanical design and proficiency with mechanical design tools.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, independent, flexible, quick learner with good multitasking abilities.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with process development for new products and new operation and process improvement projects (optional).
