About the Role Regional Group Underwriting Manager, Accident & Health leads underwriting for A&H across regional SBUs, responsible for managing loss ratios, portfolio analysis, product development oversight, and cross-functional collaboration with operations, legal, claims and finance. This role drives quality underwriting decisions and ensures adherence to approvals and processes across the region. What You'll Do
- Maintain Loss Ratio at or below the agreed-upon levels.
- Portfolio Analysis: segment business into Product P&Ls and monitor business retention.
- Audits: ensure compliance, underwriting authority usage, rating, wordings, file documentation, renewal underwriting, and product development; audits conducted every 18-24 months with written reports to UW Regional Office.
- Product Development: review/approve work by others or perform it; obtain required approvals for new products or major changes from Regional Underwriting Manager, Regional Actuarial and Regional Legal as needed; follow the Product Development process.
- Case Underwriting: review/approve quotes on large and/or unusual market opportunities across Group Business, Business Travel, VEB, and Specialty Markets.
- Training: ensure underwriting authority is properly trained to at least the level of authority, and monitor progress toward authority attainment.
- General: assist the A&H Manager with SBUs issues, important client relationships and key production issues.
- Third Party Administrators (TPA): ensure appropriate evaluation of the TPA; UW Managers do not have authority to contract TPA; cases must be prepared and sent to the UW Regional Office for approval/sign-off; Regional Legal must approve TPA agreement; NJ sign-offs as necessary.
- Inter-departmental Liaison: coordinate with Operations & Systems, Legal, Claims, and Controller/ Financial to keep all parties aligned on underwriting and related activities.
- Performance Appraisals: periodically provide comments on the technical ability and performance of subordinates against established criteria.

- Experience leading underwriting for Accident & Health within a regional or multi-country context.
- Strong ability to manage loss ratios, perform portfolio analysis, and oversee product development processes.
- Experience with audits, regulatory/approval processes, and cross-functional collaboration with Legal, Actuarial, and Operations.
- Ability to evaluate and coordinate Third Party Administrators (TPAs) and secure necessary approvals, including Regional Legal and NJ sign-offs when required.
- Proven leadership and training capabilities to develop underwriting staff and ensure authority levels are understood.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills to support client relationships and key production issues. Nice to Have
- Experience coordinating with multiple SBUs and cross-border teams in a multinational insurer.
