About the Role As a Chemical Engineer at a Marathon refinery, you can expect to become familiar with process equipment fundamentals and best practices, build critical thinking skills, and understand how all engineering disciplines collaborate as a cohesive team. You will gain knowledge of various refinery aspects by working with professionals who run specific portions of the refining process, often rotating across areas to develop a broad understanding of plant operations. The role also provides opportunities to expand your written and verbal presentation skills in a professional work environment.

What You'll Do

• Work on one or more refinery areas as part of a team under a mentor, developing practical process engineering knowledge.
• Participate in projects typical for Process / Technical Service Engineers, including designing and leading test runs to optimize refinery operations, performing process calculations, and monitoring catalysts/adsorbents, with recommendations for improvements.
• For Operations Research Engineers, help develop planning, blending, scheduling, and process models to optimize crude purchases, refinery production, blending, and finished product scheduling.
• For Environmental Engineers, assist with compliance projects across refinery units, applying engineering calculations and learning environmental laws and how to maintain compliance.
• For Products Control / Economics Engineers, analyze process flow data, update gasoline blend data, and develop tools to present process information to support operating decisions.
• Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to team members and mentors, and gain exposure to how refinery operations decisions are made.

What We're Looking For

• Major in Chemical Engineering with strong academic performance.
• Authorization to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Availability for spring, summer, and fall semesters; willingness to commit to multiple work terms preferred.
• Valid driver's license.
• Concurrent enrollment in a degree-seeking program.
• Military experience is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay: $33.54 - $42.45 per hour (USD).
• Location: Multiple locations including Findlay, OH; El Paso, TX; Anacortes, WA; Wilmington, CA; Martinez, CA.
