About this role

About the Role The Recruiter at Lamar Institute of Technology is responsible for targeting and recruiting students, organizing and attending college events, and building partnerships within the community to support LIT's enrollment goals. This exempt role reports to the AVP of Student Services and supports admissions information delivery to prospective or new students, including coordination of recruitment activities and outreach.

What You'll Do

  • Create communication plan for outreach to prospective and applied students.
  • Assist students with admissions process, holds, Texas Success Initiative (TSI), and general information on majors.
  • Participate in development of student recruitment and retention plans, strategies, and materials.
  • Utilize Mainstay with various interactive and non-interactive campaigns to engage students.
  • Visit middle schools, high schools, and colleges; speak to groups and individual students; meet with school counselors; promote outreach activities; coordinate community workshops and retreats; arrange visits from prospective students and parents.
  • Serve as a liaison to develop partnerships between LIT and local school systems.
  • Create and maintain a database of prospective and current students.
  • Create and distribute resource materials, analyze recruitment trends, and develop strategies for program evaluation.
  • Prepare reports and proposals; respond to inquiries from students.
  • Develop operating goals and objectives; implement methods and procedures to enhance operations.
  • Offer exceptional customer service in a student-centered, professional environment at all times.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum: An associate’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • One year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities.
  • Preferred: A bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Three years of experience as a college recruiter from an accredited college or university.

Nice to Have

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Three years of experience as a college recruiter.
