About the Role The Recreation & Park Aide serves as a frontline representative of the City of Dayton's Department of Recreation. This role supports seasonal and varied recreation activities in both indoor and outdoor settings, and may work independently, as part of a team, or in a lead capacity depending on assignment. What You'll Do
- Register patrons for programs
- Lead or monitor activities such as arts and crafts, fitness, sports, and camps
- Promote neighborhood and community events
- Manage recreational equipment
- Maintain light facility cleanliness
- Support program delivery through supervision, scorekeeping, and officiating games
- Enforce center policies, maintain accurate records, adhere to safety protocols
- Apply CPR and first aid when needed
- Exhibit a professional, courteous, and dependable attitude in all interactions What We're Looking For
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Sociology, Psychology, Communication, Education, or closely related field preferred
- Experience: 500 hours of experience in recreational programming within public or private recreation agencies preferred
- Certifications/Licenses: Must obtain valid First Aid and Adult/Child CPR with AED certification within 150 days of appointment and maintain thereafter; valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter
- Background/Health: Background check required; medical examination including drug screen; nicotine screening; tobacco and nicotine-free status required for continued employment
