Receptionist

We are looking for a dependable Receptionist to provide front desk support for a school in Providence, Rhode Island. This is a Contract position that requires immediate availability for same-day coverage in either a lower school or a middle/high school setting. The assignment is expected to begin right away and may continue beyond the initial need depending on staffing circumstances.

Responsibilities

• • Welcome students, families, staff, and visitors while maintaining a detail-oriented and organized front office environment.

• • Manage a multi-line phone system by answering incoming calls promptly, directing them to the appropriate contacts, and taking accurate messages when needed.

• • Provide administrative support at the reception desk, including handling routine inquiries and assisting with day-to-day school office operations.

• • Monitor front desk activity throughout the day to help ensure smooth communication between the school office and guests.

• • Offer flexible coverage support for immediate scheduling needs and adapt to changes in assignment length as staffing needs evolve.

• • Maintain a courteous and calm presence in a busy school setting while prioritizing multiple tasks efficiently.

• • Previous experience in a receptionist or front desk support role.

• • Ability to operate a multi-line phone or switchboard system with confidence.

• • Strong verbal communication skills and a detail-oriented phone manner.

• • Comfortable handling inbound calls and routing information accurately.

• • Ability to work effectively in a school environment with students, staff, and visitors.

• • Reliable availability for immediate, part-time contract coverage.

• • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several responsibilities at once.
