Job title: Real-time Embedded Software Engineer – Space Systems
About the Role Join Indra Space as an Engineering professional focusing on real-time embedded software for space and aeronautical applications. You will design, develop and verify software in tightly regulated, mission-critical environments and contribute to on-call interventions.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop real-time embedded software for space or aeronautical applications in compliance with applicable software development standards.
- Implement high-quality software using C and Python, following industry best practices.
- Work with real-time operating systems such as RTEMS, VxWorks, or FreeRTOS on embedded architectures (ARM Cortex, RISC-V, PowerPC, etc.).
- Perform software verification and validation activities, including test specification, definition, and execution using EGSE/SCOE test benches.
- Produce and maintain software and system design documentation using UML and SysML.
- Apply configuration management practices using GIT and SVN.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the full software lifecycle.
- Participate in on-call duties and planned technical interventions when required.
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in embedded real-time software design and development for the space or aeronautical industry.
- Excellent programming skills in C and Python.
- Solid knowledge of multitasking systems and real-time operating systems (RTEMS, VxWorks, FreeRTOS).
- Experience with embedded computer architectures such as ARM Cortex, RISC-V, PowerPC, or equivalent.
- Experience in software verification and validation, including test definition and execution.
- Knowledge of software configuration management tools (GIT, SVN).
- Experience with software design and documentation methodologies (UML, SysML).
- Knowledge of MISRA-C software coding standards.
- Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Podman.
- Medium-level experience with Python in ITOM or technical environments (3–4 years).
- Availability to participate in on-call rotations and planned interventions.
- English level B2 (desirable).
Nice to Have
- Experience with space programs or ESA/EU initiatives and knowledge of EGSE/SCOE test benches.
- Familiarity with software development in highly regulated environments.
