Job title: R&D Technician
About the Role R&D Technician assists with laboratory experiments/processes, product scale-up, data documentation, equipment maintenance, and other technical tasks as determined by project needs. This role works closely with R&D scientists and chemists while following ISO 9001, cGMP, and safety/environmental guidelines to ensure quality and compliance.
What You'll Do
- Assist in the scale-up of new products/processes, including setup and cleaning of glassware/equipment, executing/monitoring lab batches, acquiring and inventorying new raw materials, staging raw materials, characterization of products, and communicating data/findings.
- Document and track data for R&D, assist in submitting samples to R&D Analytical, prepare test solutions and reagents, and assist in preparing technical documents.
- Assist chemists in maintaining equipment, instruments, storage, etc., and participate in technical meetings. Provide follow-up from lab meetings, including performing lab work and writing lab reports.
- Operate within R&D Life Sciences SOPs and review, maintain and create appropriate procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 9001, cGMP, customer and Ortec requirements. Comply with safety and environmental guidelines.
- Work with a team in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong work ethic and team-first attitude.
What We're Looking For
- Education: High school diploma required; preferred Associate's degree in Science or related field.
- Experience: Experience in a chemical manufacturing facility; three to five years industrial experience in an R&D lab and/or GMP manufacturing.
- Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to document in lab notebooks; ability to draft/revise SOPs; strong work ethic and team-first attitude; ability to abide by FDA and applicable quality standards.
- Laboratory/Instrumentation: Basic synthesis techniques or wet chemistry; titrations, distillation, extraction; HPLC, GC, FTIR, NMR, Melt Temperature, pH meter.
- Knowledge: Familiar with ISO 9001-2000 International Standard and cGMP protocols.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with wet chemistry techniques and practical lab experience in an industrial setting.
- Experience with ISO 9001-2000 and cGMP protocols in a GMP environment.
