About the Role Baker Tilly is seeking an R&D Tax Credits Manager to join our Federal Credits & Incentives practice. The role focuses on leading R&D tax credit and deduction studies for middle-market clients, helping increase cash flow and optimize investment in new technology. Candidate must be tied to a Baker Tilly office location; Seattle, WA is highly preferred; West Coast location acceptable.
What You'll Do
- Manage R&D tax credit and deduction studies including client interviews, data reviews, tool/template development, and preparation of technical reports
- Research and draft technical memoranda related to R&D matters
- Provide audit defense assistance for IRS/state audits
- Develop an understanding of the client's business and become a functional expert
- Assist with engagement staffing, billing/collections, and profitability targets
- Network and build strong client and community relationships
- Invest in professional development through firm programs; mentor and support team members
- Support growth of the R&D tax credits practice and team through Baker Tilly Care and Teach philosophy
What We're Looking For
- 4-year degree; license eligible required; Master's or advanced degree preferred
- CPA, Enrolled Agent, or CMI~PE required
- 5+ years of R&D work experience
- 2+ years of supervisory experience with mentoring and counseling
- Ability to lead and supervise others, deliver exceptional client service, maintain ethical standards, and balance big-picture and detailed work
Nice to Have
- Master’s or advanced degree preferred
- West Coast location or Seattle preferred
