Job title: R&D Engineer II (Medical Devices) - HYBRID Alpharetta, GA
About the Role The R&D Engineer II will perform research and development activities related to Owens & Minor (O&M) Products & Healthcare Services Portfolio. The role leads small- to medium-sized R&D projects, supports senior engineers, or works with Project Managers on larger programs, and focuses on the Medical Apparel portfolio. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and internal/external manufacturing partners to define requirements, prototype concepts, and develop manufacturable designs that meet specifications.
What You'll Do
- Lead or contribute to R&D projects of varying complexity, including small- to mid-sized initiatives
- Work independently with low to moderate guidance from more senior engineers and management
- Define product requirements, prototype concepts, develop manufacturable designs, and test products to meet defined specifications
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, and Manufacturing Engineers; interface with internal manufacturing teams and contract manufacturers and suppliers of disposable products
- Generate and analyze test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications
- Develop and document intellectual property according to established company procedures
- Create effective schedules with collaboration from cross-functional teams and management; independently follow agreed path/strategy and drive necessary decisions; obtain buy-in from other groups as needed
- Provide guidance to lower level engineers and may supervise/lead technicians, co-ops, or interns
- Ensure customer requirements are understood and met and maintain alignment with cross-functional teams
What We're Looking For
- Education: BS in Engineering or Science Related Field with 2+ years of relevant experience OR MS in Engineering with 0+ years OR PhD in Engineering with 0+ years
- Strong project management, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work with a diverse group of teammates
- Basic understanding of statistical analysis tools and/or software
- Experience or interest in medical devices or disposable products is preferred
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $85,000 - $95,000 per year (USD)
