About the Role Fortune Brands Innovations is seeking a Raw Materials Buyer to manage raw material purchase requirements, release supplier orders per contract terms, and support sourcing in identifying new supply sources. You will maintain continuous interaction with suppliers and internal customers to ensure timely deliveries to our Nogales Operations Center and other plants, collaborating with planning, operations, logistics, engineering, customs, finance, quality, and project managers. You will generate metrics and reports to drive continuous improvement, high fill rates, and a streamlined workflow in a dynamic environment.
What You'll Do
- Review component requirements to stock inventories or cover demand based on MRP, promotions, NPI, and component forecasts.
- Expedite and update purchase orders per production plans; ensure material arrives on time by tracking POs.
- Provide component information to planning, manufacturing, supply chain and engineering to support daily demand changes and projects.
- Manage supplier changes or product address changes; gather all necessary information to obtain approvals from relevant departments.
- For NPI, review ECO to request samples or drawings from suppliers to support QA/engineering for FAIR/PPAP.
- Resolve issues related to receipts or quality of POs; project forecasts for component receipts and achieve targets via monthly analysis.
- Maintain electronic records of purchases; read and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Present weekly procurement metrics for Past Due POs, Matching Hold, MRB, Forecast receipts, supplier scorecard, 5s, and potential shortages.
- Evaluate suppliers using Supplier Score Card monthly; support Finance, AP, Security/Asset Protection, Customs and Quality during audits.
- Participate in daily DH metrics meeting; release releases to suppliers in VMI scheme.
- Expedite material according to needs using cost-effective shipping methods.
- Conduct inventory analysis based on DSI; negotiate MOQs with suppliers to reduce aging inventory.
- Utilize tools such as ASCP, BOOK, AGILE, MPS, ORACLE, NEXUS to perform job functions.
- Strengthen and streamline the supply chain with LEAN Manufacturing principles.
- Provide support for MRO purchasing.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Administration or Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years progressive experience in a manufacturing environment with raw materials purchasing and inventory planning.
- Advanced English proficiency.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (Oracle preferred; SAP, JD Edwards also acceptable).
- Basic knowledge of LEAN MANUFACTURING.
Nice to Have
- Experience with supplier scorecards and audits.
- Familiarity with ERP tools and MRO procurement processes.
- Knowledge of ASCP, MRP, AGILE, MPS, ORACLE, NEXUS.
