MAIN FUNCTIONS
- Perform industrial radiographic testing (RT) of welds, castings, forgings, piping, pressure vessels, structural components, and other equipment to detect internal defects.
- Operate X-ray and gamma-ray radiography equipment in accordance with approved procedures and applicable safety requirements.
- Review radiographic testing procedures, drawings, inspection requirements, and acceptance criteria before commencing examinations.
- Select appropriate radiographic techniques, exposure parameters, source types, films, digital detectors, and image quality indicators (IQIs) for the examination.
- Set up and position radiographic equipment, source, film, detectors, and accessories accurately to obtain quality radiographs.
- Establish and control restricted areas, warning signs, barriers, and radiation safety measures during radiographic operations.
- Conduct radiographic examinations and ensure exposures are performed safely and in accordance with approved techniques.
- Process, develop, or digitally acquire radiographic images and evaluate image quality for acceptability.
- Interpret radiographs to identify discontinuities such as cracks, porosity, inclusions, lack of fusion, lack of penetration, and other weld or material defects.
- Compare radiographic indications against applicable codes, standards, specifications, and acceptance criteria.
- Maintain accurate records of radiographic examinations, exposure details, source identification, locations, results, and equipment used.
- Prepare radiographic reports and communicate examination results to QA/QC inspectors, engineers, clients, and relevant project personnel.
- Ensure radiation sources, exposure devices, X-ray equipment, survey meters, dosimeters, and associated accessories are properly inspected and maintained.
- Perform radiation surveys before, during, and after exposures as required to confirm safe working conditions.
- Monitor personal radiation exposure and ensure dosimetry requirements are followed.
- Report equipment defects, abnormal radiation readings, safety incidents, and non-conformances immediately.
- Maintain traceability of radiographs, test locations, weld numbers, components, and inspection records.
- Support other NDT activities and coordinate with welding, fabrication, inspection, and QA/QC teams as required.
- Ensure all radiographic activities comply with applicable NDT standards, radiation protection regulations, client requirements, and HSE procedures.
REQUIREMENTS

Technical Diploma, HND, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or a related technical discipline.

Valid ASNT, PCN, ISO 9712, or equivalent Radiographic Testing (RT) certification appropriate to the role.

Relevant Level II/II-C radiography qualification or authorization, as required by the applicable certification scheme and regulatory authority.

Minimum 5 years of relevant industrial radiography experience, preferably within oil & gas, petrochemical, fabrication, construction, or maintenance environments.

Demonstrated experience in weld and material radiography using X-ray and/or gamma-ray sources.

Strong knowledge of radiographic techniques, image quality requirements, exposure calculations, and film/digital image interpretation.

Good understanding of applicable codes and standards such as ASME, API, AWS, ASTM, ISO, and client-specific specifications.

Knowledge of radiation protection principles, safe source handling, controlled-area requirements, and emergency procedures.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, weld maps, inspection plans, and radiographic procedures.

Strong documentation, reporting, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.

Ability to work effectively in fabrication yards, workshops, construction sites, offshore facilities, and other industrial environments.

Must be medically fit for industrial radiography duties and able to comply with applicable radiation safety and regulatory requirements.
