Radio Operation Services
MAIN FUNCTIONS
- Operate and maintain radio communication systems to support safe and reliable communication across offshore, onshore, marine, drilling, construction, and industrial operations.
- Monitor assigned radio channels and maintain continuous communication with field personnel, vessels, aircraft, control rooms, emergency response teams, and operational facilities.
- Transmit and receive clear, accurate, and timely radio communications in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain radio communication logs, call records, operational reports, and other required documentation.
- Conduct routine checks of radios, antennas, batteries, chargers, repeaters, and associated communication equipment.
- Identify communication faults and coordinate troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance with technical support teams.
- Ensure radio equipment is correctly configured, tested, and available for operational and emergency use.
- Support emergency response activities by maintaining reliable communication with emergency response and incident management teams.
- Manage radio frequencies, channels, call signs, and communication protocols in accordance with approved operating procedures.
- Conduct radio checks before and during critical operations to confirm communication reliability.
- Coordinate communication requirements for drilling, lifting, marine, aviation, logistics, maintenance, and other field activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of operational communications and information.
- Report equipment failures, communication disruptions, interference, and other operational issues promptly.
- Assist with radio equipment inventory, inspection, calibration, battery management, and replacement activities.
- Ensure radio operations comply with company procedures, regulatory requirements, telecommunications standards, and HSE requirements.
- Provide guidance to personnel on proper radio communication procedures and protocols.
- Participate in communication drills, emergency exercises, and operational readiness activities.
REQUIREMENTS
- OND, HND, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent qualification in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Communications, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in radio operations, telecommunications, marine communications, aviation communications, offshore operations, or industrial communications.
- Knowledge of VHF, UHF, HF, marine, digital, and other radio communication systems.
- Experience operating two-way radios, base stations, repeaters, antennas, and related communication equipment.
- Familiarity with radio communication protocols, call signs, frequency management, and emergency communication procedures.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic radio and communication equipment faults.
- Good communication, coordination, reporting, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to remain calm and communicate effectively during emergency and high-pressure situations.
- Working knowledge of relevant telecommunications, maritime, aviation, and HSE requirements is an advantage.
- Ability to work shifts and in onshore, offshore, marine, or remote operational environments as required.
