About this role

Job title: Quantum Computing Researcher

Bull (Atos) is seeking a PhD-level quantum computing researcher to contribute to the next era of advanced computing, spanning HPC, AI and quantum technologies. Ideally you have at least 2 years of postdoc or industry experience after your PhD, with deep expertise in quantum algorithms, classical algorithms and the theory of complexity, and publications in these areas. Strong Python programming is required; C++ is a plus, and some software engineering fundamentals are expected. Familiarity with collaborative research programs (ANR, Horizon Europe, ERC) is highly valued; HPC knowledge is a bonus.

Conduct cutting-edge research in quantum computing, developing and analyzing quantum and hybrid algorithms. Collaborate across teams in hardware design, software engineering, data science and quantum research to deliver end-to-end innovative computing solutions. Publish results and contribute to proposals and project consortia (ANR, Horizon Europe, ERC), advancing the state of the art. Contribute to scientific programming in Python (and ideally C++) and maintain high-quality software practices.

PhD in quantum computing with ideally 2+ years of postdoc or industry research after the PhD. Mastery of quantum algorithms, classical algorithms, and the theory of complexity; at least one publication in these domains. Strong programming in Python; C++ knowledge is a plus; solid software engineering basics. Experience with collaborative research projects (ANR, Horizon Europe, ERC) and familiarity with these mechanisms. Knowledge of high-performance computing (HPC) is a plus.

Hands-on experience with HPC or large-scale computing environments is a nice to have.
