Job Description Grade: 4, $23-$24 (DOE). Status: Non-Exempt

Role Description: The Quality Assurance Technician supports the company’s quality systems by performing inspections, documenting results, and assisting with problem-solving and continuous improvement activities. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

This role is classified as non-exempt under California law and is eligible for overtime in accordance with state and federal wage-hour regulations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Inspect incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Conduct tests on finished products to verify performance within defined specifications.
  • Document inspection results accurately and enter data into the quality database.
  • Communicate deviations promptly to operators and supervisors to support timely corrective action.
  • Reject out-of-specification product and place questionable product on hold for management review.
  • Provide clear work instructions and quality guidance to production personnel.
  • Support line supervision with quality-related line calls.
  • Participate in internal audits and assist in developing corrective action plans.
  • Assist in creating and revising standard operating procedures and quality documentation.
  • Participate in problem-solving activities, including root-cause analysis and corrective action validation.
  • Participate in kaizen events and other quality or process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company safety policies.
  • Perform other job-related duties consistent with training, experience, and business needs.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to use measuring devices and basic inspection tools.

  • Ability to use a computer and standard office software.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with employees at all levels.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support continuous improvement.

  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Safety & Compliance: Understands and follows all required safety rules and precautions for working in a manufacturing environment. Supports documentation and resolution of nonconforming materials and process discrepancies.

  • Communication & Reporting: Communicates effectively with the Quality Manager regarding methods, quality issues, and problem-solving activities. Prepares clear, concise, and accurate reports of inspections, audits, test results, job-site visits, and delivered goods.

  • Quality & Process Support: Assists in developing and implementing objectives, plans, and priorities to support timely completion of quality-control goals. Interprets CAD drawings and verifies conformance to company specifications.

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Able to read and use measuring devices such as tape measures, protractors, and micrometers.
  • Physical

Requirements

  • Able to move materials and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally. Able to walk and stand for extended periods in a warehouse environment. Able to work in varying temperatures, including high heat or cold.

  • Education & Experience

  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.

  • Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems is a plus.

  • Familiarity with Minitab or other statistical software preferred.

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
