Quality Management Systems and PLM Lead

Giga Energy
Houston; Long Beach Posted Oct 9, 2026
Full-timeOn-site

About this role

What you'll do

  • Giga Energy builds mission-critical power and cooling infrastructure for AI datacenters, including transformers, switchboards, e-houses, and fully integrated AI pods delivered to hyperscaler and utility customers across North America.

  • As Quality Systems and PLM Lead, you will own the global quality operating system and the product lifecycle platform behind it. That means the architecture is yours to design: how a design gets released, how an engineering change gets approved and propagated to suppliers, how inspection and as-built records prove what we shipped, and how corrective action closes the loop. You will stand up the QMS and PLM, define the standards that US and China quality both work to, and own the quality package customers see during program qualification. This is a build role with a global remit and executive backing behind the controls you put in place.

Where you'll work

Velocity matters when you're building physical infrastructure, and the best decisions happen in the room. This role is based in Houston or Los Angeles with full-time onsite expectations, and travel up to 10 percent including international travel to manufacturing and supplier sites in China and Mexico.

Responsibilities

  • Quality Management System

  • Design and stand up the global QMS covering material, supplier, manufacturing, and customer quality

  • Own document and revision control, including work instructions, inspection plans, and quality records

  • Build the NCR and CAPA process and drive structured root cause using 8D, Fishbone, and 5-Why

  • Own ISO 9001 readiness and certification effort, and the product compliance matrix against UL, NEC, NEMA, and customer-specific requirements

  • Product Lifecycle and Engineering Change Control

  • Implement and own the PLM platform, including selection support and configuration of the release workflow

  • Own the released product definition: approved BOM, drawings, specifications, and revision state

  • Build the ECO and ECN workflow end to end, from change request through engineering disposition, approval, release, and supplier notification

  • Define the deviation and substitution process for component changes after design freeze, including approval authority and traceability

  • Define how an approved revision propagates into the ERP and out to suppliers and contract manufacturers

  • Supplier Quality

  • Own supplier qualification, re-qualification audits, and the supplier scorecard and QBR cadence

  • Build the Supplier Quality Agreement framework covering material certifications, First Article Inspection, critical specs, and dimensional tolerances

  • Issue and drive SCARs to closure; investigate repeat escapes and hold suppliers to sustained corrective action

  • Define pre-shipment inspection checkpoints at overseas CM facilities

  • Inspection and Traceability

  • Define the incoming, in-process, and final inspection framework, including sampling plans, accept and reject criteria, and non-conforming material disposition

  • Own serialized test and as-built records, and the audit path that verifies a built unit against its released revision

  • Own Certificate of Conformance and qualification and test record retention

  • Customer Quality and Audits

  • Own the customer-facing quality package used in program qualification and customer audits

  • Own the customer complaint process: intake, containment, investigation, 8D, and formal closure within SLA

  • Represent Quality at customer sites during field investigations and commissioning inspections

  • Run internal audits against the QMS and close findings

  • Metrics and Continuous Improvement

  • Own quality KPIs including incoming PPM, first-pass yield, scrap and rework, SCAR closure, and warranty claim rate

  • Partner with Finance to define cost-of-quality tracking by program and supplier

  • Drive continuous improvement and Lean initiatives with manufacturing engineering

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field

  • 8+ years in quality, PLM, or manufacturing engineering in complex physical products

  • Direct experience building or transforming a quality management system, not only operating within one

  • Deep ownership of engineering change control and configuration management: ECO, ECN, deviations, revision governance, and release authority

  • Experience implementing or administering a PLM platform such as Arena, Windchill, Teamcenter, or Agile

  • Supplier quality experience in an international contract manufacturing environment, including audits, SCARs, and FAI documentation

  • Experience defining inspection frameworks and non-conformance and corrective action processes that production teams actually use

  • Track record of making a release or change process mandatory across engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

Bonus points

  • Power distribution, switchgear, transformers, or power electronics experience

  • Experience building quality standards across multiple manufacturing geographies, including China

  • Led a first ISO 9001 certification rather than maintaining an existing one

  • Cost-of-quality measurement built in partnership with Finance
