Job title: Quality Inspector
About the Role The role is to identify and record casting defects, severity, and the responsible department to assist engineering and process control in resolving processing variations. It also involves verifying the alloy type in each casting and visually inspecting castings before release for further processing.
What You'll Do
- Inspect all castings for defects visually, using boroscopes, mirrors and other hand tools when necessary.
- Verify alloy composition of all castings and weld patches using Acromag and Kevex spectral analyzer; program analyzer and review results.
- Verify alloy type of x-ray pennies laid on film.
- Route parts to the next processing step after inspection.
- Documentation: Record defects, severity, location and responsible department; prepare reports for process control and engineering.
- Document and identify unusual or recurring problems with parts and bring to the attention of the appropriate individual.
- Review, complete and assure accurate documentation.
- Complete special reports as requested by engineering or process control.
