Job title: Quality Inspector - Investment Casting
About the Role This on-site role supports quality and process control in the investment casting operation by inspecting castings for defects, verifying alloy types, and documenting issues to drive corrective actions.
What You'll Do
- Visually inspect all castings for defects using boroscopes, mirrors and other hand tools when necessary.
- Verify the alloy composition of all castings and weld patches using Acromag and Kevex spectral analyzer; program the analyzer and review results.
- Verify alloy type of x-ray pennies laid on film.
- Route parts and maintain proper documentation of defects and process control problems for timely analysis by process control and engineering.
- Document and identify unusual or recurring problems with parts and bring them to the attention of the appropriate individual; complete special reports as requested by engineering or process control.
- Interact with engineering, process control and other plant departments to identify and resolve problems found during inspection; assist Production Supervision and Part Product Engineers in evaluation of samples, trials and experiments; assist Process Control in monitoring part quality; contact Investing, Casting and other production departments as appropriate regarding part defects.
- Adhere to plant and department safety rules; safely operate all equipment and tools; identify and report safety problems; may be required to handle hazardous waste.
- Training is provided on the job; may be required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training.
What We're Looking For
- Working knowledge of one or more of the stages of the investment casting process, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Ability to follow instructions, read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations.
- Ability to work independently and to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to attend to details.
- Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to seventy-five pounds.
- Ability to work in difficult working conditions, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and temperature.
Nice to Have
- Training on hazardous waste management (optional based on job requirements).
