Job title: Quality Engineer
About the Role The Quality Engineer will ensure that products for assigned parts and customers meet all contractual requirements with the minimum incurred quality costs. You will drive quality planning, supplier coordination, and root-cause analysis to improve quality, cost, and delivery performance.
What You'll Do
- Control and interpret customer requirements and issue instructions for conformance; obtain waivers when appropriate for PCC.
- Develop and communicate functional quality plans and manufacturing instructions to PCC functions and suppliers.
- Develop and issue product inspection instructions and ensure proper implementation.
- Ensure the product meets customer and PCC requirements; evaluate and disposition nonconformances and drive corrective action.
- Lead root cause analysis, containment actions, and timely closure of non-conformances internally and with suppliers; implement CAPA.
- Maintain effective communication with customers and suppliers on quality matters; guide Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Purchasing on group projects.
- Participate in the Material Review Board to disposition defects.
- Conduct risk management, quality-related experiments, and coordinate problem-solving and quality improvement activities.
- Audit systems and procedures as part of the QA audit team; develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Collaborate with subject-matter experts on process validation to ensure repeatable, high-quality processes; handle conventional engineering tasks with some complex requirements.
- Independently perform cost assignments with supervisory approval for proposed plans.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Understanding of corrective and preventive actions and quality audits; familiarity with Six Sigma and related quality concepts.
- Proficient with statistics, mathematics, GD&T, and ability to interpret blueprints; AS9100 and NADCAP experience; AS9102 knowledge.
- Effective communication with coworkers and customers; ability to interpret technical instructions and multiple data types.
- Knowledge of M&TE selection, tool calibration, and standards traceability; ability to perform basic inspection and testing techniques.
- Ability to work in a production environment; proficient with Microsoft Office; adherence to company policies.
Nice to Have
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
- Three years of experience in investment casting or the aerospace metal industry.
- NDT, dimensional, and metallurgical experience; knowledge of materials, finishes, and specifications (SAE, ASME, ANSI).
- APQP/PPAP process knowledge and documentation (PDPs, Process Control Plans, FMEA) to ensure stability and capability.
- ERP experience; metric trending skills.
