Quality Engineer

About the Role Join KIRCHHOFF Automotive Tecumseh as a Quality Engineer focused on quality systems, supplier quality, and program launches. You will develop training materials, lead investigations, and ensure conformance to PPAP, APQP, FMEA, GD&T, and SPC throughout manufacturing. What You'll Do

• Facilitate training related to quality and develop training material
• Deal with customer rejects and problems and take necessary steps to rectify concerns
• Investigate substandard results and conduct research on product defects to recommend changes in materials or processes
• Communicate with customers and engineering on advanced quality issues and programs; provide direction as required
• Conduct investigations on non-conformances; recommend corrective action to prevent reoccurrence
• Attend customer meetings and translate requirements into plant systems and procedures
• Analyze SPC data and assist in improving manufacturing process capability
• Review GD&T, SC, and KPC with customers on new programs to address quality issues
• Coordinate and prepare PPAP submission packages with required documents
• Prepare FMEA, Process Flow Diagrams, and Process Control Plans; revise as needed
• Review fixture designs for proper part location and pass checks
• Review dimensional checks, capability studies, Gauge R&R studies, and audits to support customer concerns, APQP and PPAP
• Coordinate process capability studies for product/process launch
• Conduct training on new programs and provide training materials
• Assist with DOE and DVP&R when required
• Review and approve supplier PPAP packages; follow up for resubmission
• Monitor supplier performance and develop new suppliers; support supplier improvement plans
• Ensure high quality service at customer shipping locations; liaise with customer assembly plants for new product launches
• Plan and perform internal audits across KIRCHHOFF Automotive facilities
• Support 5S discipline and a safe, clean work environment; ensure compliance with applicable laws
• Accept other reasonable management requests What We're Looking For
• 5–9 years of experience in a quality environment in manufacturing/automotive
• Knowledge of welding environments (GNAW, Spot and Resistance)
• Preferred: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) body of knowledge
• Understanding of Quality System, PPAP, APQP requirements
• Knowledge of GD&T, SC, customer-specific requirements and various test methods
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Effective problem-solving skills (8D) and decision-making skills
• Ability to read blueprint drawings
• Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, GroupWise
• Education: University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Metallurgical Engineering Nice to Have
• Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification (preferred)
