Quality Control/Quality Assurance Engineer

About the Role The Quality Control/Quality Assurance Engineer will work within Black & Veatch's Substation Quality Management Group (QMG) to perform QA/QC on substation design packages, with emphasis on continuous improvement. You will collaborate with the substation design team to ensure high-quality, compliant deliverables. What You'll Do

• Function as a QA/QC engineer within the substation quality management group (QMG).
• Perform QA/QC of substation design packages, including physical design, protective relaying/control, with emphasis on continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with the substation design team and other internal/external stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance on design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and BV policies.
• Ensure compliance with BV quality program; may oversee data collection/management; prepare engineering calculations; manage budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Independently apply advanced engineering techniques; mentor lower-level staff; coordinate with team members on moderately complex projects.
• May lead production teams or coordinate multiple discipline activity; serve as responsible charge for a project.
• Support business development or client pursuit activities; communicate client interests to project team and incorporate into work.

• High voltage (HV) substation design experience – physical and/or protection & controls.
• QA/QC reviews – quality assurance/quality checks experience.
• Experience coordinating and communicating with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Project lead and technical specialist experience overseeing utility substation clients and projects.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and train junior professionals.
• Knowledge of applicable engineering codes, standards, and corporate policies.
