Job title: Quality Control Supervisor / Officer
Job Summary
The Quality Control Supervisor / Officer is responsible for conducting and supervising routine quality control activities at the Sagamu Warehouse. The role carries out representative sampling and inspection, verifies moisture, foreign matter, purity, admixture and infestation levels, monitors cleaning efficiency and product recovery, maintains quality records and sample retention, ensures lot segregation and traceability, supports final shipment inspection and release documentation, and escalates quality exceptions immediately, in support of the Quality Control Manager and the wider quality function.
Job Details
- Representative Sampling and Inspection
- Conduct representative sampling of incoming, in-process and cleaned sesame lots in line with approved sampling plans.
- Carry out visual and physical inspection of sampled lots to determine quality status.
- Quality Parameter Verification
- Verify moisture content, foreign matter, purity, admixture and infestation levels of sesame lots using approved testing methods and equipment.
- Record and report test results accurately against approved specifications.
- Cleaning Efficiency and Product Recovery Monitoring
- Monitor cleaning line efficiency and product recovery rates, identifying deviations from expected performance.
- Liaise with Cleaning/Production staff to flag efficiency or recovery issues for corrective action.
- Quality Records and Sample Retention
- Maintain accurate and complete quality records, including test results, inspection reports and sampling logs.
- Manage sample retention in line with company procedures, ensuring samples are properly labelled, stored and available for reference or audit.
- Lot Segregation and Traceability
- Ensure lots are properly segregated, labelled and identified according to quality status at every stage.
- Maintain traceability of lots from receipt through cleaning/processing to release or rejection.
- Final Shipment Inspection and Release Documentation Support
- Support final inspection of export shipments, verifying quality compliance prior to loading/dispatch.
- Assist in preparing accurate release documentation and certificates for export cargo.
- Quality Exception Escalation
- Immediately escalate quality exceptions, non-conforming results and process deviations to the Assistant QC Manager / Quality Control Manager.
- Support prompt investigation and resolution of escalated quality issues.
Requirements
- HND/B.Sc. in Food Science, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Agriculture, or a related field. Relevant certification in laboratory practice or quality control is an advantage.
- Familiarity with basic laboratory testing procedures and quality control practices is desirable.
- Minimum of 1-3 years' experience in quality control/laboratory operations, preferably within the agro-commodity or food processing sector.
