Job title: Quality Control Manager
About the Role Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role leads quality control inspection, testing and compliance of roll covers produced in Griffin, GA and ensures that all Quality Control standards and objectives are met. The position supports continuous improvement across the manufacturing process to ensure client requirements are met.
What You'll Do
- Ensure and/or verify all completed covering, finishing, and compound/mixing work done in-house and all work received from outside vendors meet the quality control standards of the construction of roll covers
- Provide system documentation of Quality Control procedures with the use of SPIs, ISO documentation, and the Quality Control Review Audits
- Review all internal documentation daily as well as outgoing paperwork for accuracy and completeness
- Inspect all rolls prior to shipment to ensure they meet Quality Control guidelines
- Inspect and test for non-conformance of all manufacturing operations (Internal Reject and R & A)
- Specify/review Plant Orders, do shop floor feedback in order to maintain an accurate raw material inventory
- Verify and sign off on a roll’s final approval for shipment
- Perform the monthly internal Covering and Millroom quality audits
- Maintain the roll cover SPIs
- Communicate the Quality Control procedures to all appropriate personnel within the Spreader Roll department
- Report all Quality Control information, updates, status and issues to Regional Quality Manager and Plant Manager
- Develops and maintains certification programs for internal training and certification of employees and vendors
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned by management.
What We're Looking For
- Education: Associate or Bachelor degree in a technical field preferred and/or 3-5 years of equivalent manufacturing experience in a production environment, with experience in a paper mill preferred.
- Solid knowledge of formal quality systems such as ISO, QIT, TQM, etc.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams)
- Ability to use automated building and equipment controls.
- Working Conditions: Requires infrequent lifting of moderately heavy objects and occasional lifting of objects 50 pounds and over. Requires hand dexterity for repetitive movements. Requires the ability to work in both a machine shop environment and office setting intermittently.

- Experience in a paper mill (preferred)
