About this role

About the Role HL Mando is seeking a Production Quality Engineer to support world-class automotive component production. This role will proactively drive sustainable excellence by ensuring product compliance, performing in-line defect analysis, conducting process and product audits, and driving proactive problem resolution across manufacturing, with a strong customer focus.

What You'll Do

  • Perform real-time in-line defect analysis across the affected manufacturing process to identify defect patterns, root causes, and containment actions.
  • Review dimensional, functional, and visual inspection results to prevent defect leaks to the customer and maintain stable production quality.
  • Lead cross-functional troubleshooting on the shop floor to promptly address abnormal conditions and quality alerts.
  • Manage containment activities, including segregation, sorting or rework instructions, and communication with production teams.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve inspection documentation, sampling plans, and QA processes to meet IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and OEM requirements.
  • Conduct process and product audits to assess SOP compliance and product conformity; document findings and lead corrective actions with verified effectiveness.
  • Lead root cause analysis using 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa; implement cross-functional countermeasures and preventive actions across lines; perform data analysis (SPC, capability studies, trend charts).
  • Monitor critical-to-quality characteristics and KPIs; support new product launches, PPAP submissions, and process improvements; maintain MSA studies and control plans.
  • Serve as a technical contact for customer quality issues and warranty claims; collaborate with supplier quality; prepare and present quality performance reports.
  • Drive continuous improvement through Six Sigma and defect-reduction initiatives; support adoption of advanced quality planning tools.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • 2–5+ years of automotive manufacturing quality experience (Tier 1 or Tier 2) or product quality engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA.
  • Hands-on experience with quality tools: 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa; knowledge of control plans and writing inspection plans.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software (Minitab or similar); understanding of GD&T and metrology equipment.
  • Analytical, strong communication, and cross-functional problem-solving skills.

Nice to Have

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience in high-volume automotive Tier-1 environments.
  • Auditing experience; IATF 16949 experience.
  • Reduction in quality costs; Assembly and Machining experience; Knowledge of inspection and measurement.
