About the Role Quality Assurance Engineer responsible for ensuring quality, safety, and compliance of conveyor and material handling systems with applicable standards, regulations, and customer requirements across the entire project lifecycle—from design and procurement through production and testing to commissioning and handover. What You'll Do
- Ensure quality, safety and compliance with international and industry standards (ISO 9001, CE, DIN, EN, ASTM, CEMA, etc.) across the full lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain quality plans, inspection and testing plans (ITP) and acceptance criteria; participate in contract reviews to identify quality risks.
- Inspect incoming materials (rubber, textiles, steel cord), semifinished products (rubber compounds, laminate layers), and final products (conveyor belts); verify dimensions, joints, tolerances; monitor deviations and manage deviation management.
- Ensure product traceability and manage accompanying documentation (certificates, reports, COC); verify compliance with customer specifications.
- Monitor and control manufacturing processes (calendering, vulcanization, cutting, and splicing) and maintain related work instructions (WI) and inspection plans (ITP).
- Identify non-conformities (NCR); lead decisions on rework, scrap, or use-as-is with approval; drive CAPA and track effectiveness.
- Participate in internal audits, process audits (LPA), and external audits by customers; ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and ContiTech standards.
- Collaborate with Production, Planning and Maintenance; assist in solving production problems without compromising quality.
- Promote methodologies to analyze customer needs, identify KPIs for quality reporting, and train operators on quality standards and control methods.
- Ensure traceability of products and materials and maintain accompanying documentation.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and develop improvement plans with the quality manager; implement ideas in alignment with standards.
- Continuously improve quality principles and transfer knowledge across the organization; promote a culture of quality.
- Maintain and update quality-related documentation, including inspection plans (ITP) and work instructions (WI). What We're Looking For
- Understanding of quality management systems (ISO 9001) and relevant industry standards (CE, DIN, EN, ASTM, CEMA).
- Ability to plan and implement quality plans, inspection and testing plans (ITP), and CAPA processes.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis (5 Why, Ishikawa) and manage deviations, NCRs and CAPA.
- Experience with audits (internal, process (LPA), and customer/external).
- Knowledge of inspection of incoming materials and production processes (calendering, vulcanization, cutting, splicing) and ensuring traceability.
- Strong collaboration with production, planning and maintenance; training of operators; promoting quality culture.
- Familiarity with documentation management and ensuring compliance with technical specifications. Nice to Have
