Job title: Quality Assurance Automation Engineer
About the Role Contributes to the overall success of the Quality Assurance function within Canadian Banking Engineering & Retail Business Banking Operations in Bogotá, Colombia, ensuring automation, functional and non-functional testing are effectively executed across multiple applications. This role designs, executes, and continually improves automated test assets and test practices, including automated and functional tests, automated regression suites, API validations, and non-functional testing, while adhering to QA standards and governance.
What You'll Do
- Champions a customer-focused culture and ensures testing activities (functional, API, automation, and non-functional) contribute to user experience, system reliability, and product quality across multiple applications.
- Proactively reviews requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to identify test scope early and provide timely, value-added feedback for high-quality, scalable solutions.
- Designs, develops, and oversees the implementation of comprehensive, well-structured (manual and automated) test plans and test cases to ensure optimal coverage and efficiency prior to product release.
- Builds, runs, and maintains automated test cases using approved automation frameworks and tools ensuring assets are reusable and aligned with governance standards.
- Plans and executes API testing to validate service behavior and data integrity using approved tools and integrates results into overall quality evidence.
- Executes Non-Functional Testing (NFT) activities including performance and load testing using tools such as Apache JMeter, supporting NFT metrics and reporting.
- Leads analysis of test execution outcomes, identifies root causes, and defines corrective/preventive actions in collaboration with development and stakeholders.
- Performs ongoing maintenance of test assets (automation scripts and NFT/API suites), proactively addressing failures caused by application changes, tooling updates, and environment configuration.
What We're Looking For
- Experience contributing to QA across automation, API, non-functional testing.
- Ability to design and maintain comprehensive test plans and cases with strong coverage.
- Proficiency with automation frameworks and tools.
- Hands-on API testing experience with tools.
- Non-functional testing experience including performance/load testing and evidence-based reporting.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret test results, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain and evolve test assets alongside development teams and environments.
