About the Role
QA Test Specialist at Scotiabank is responsible for applying testing methodologies and practices across Agile projects to ensure high-quality software deliveries. This role involves analyzing requirements, designing testing strategies, coordinating across streams, and collaborating with development teams to build automated and manual tests, while leading QA-focused discussions and driving quality throughout the SDLC.
What You'll Do
- Analyze requirements/stories; design testing strategies and test plans; select appropriate test tools; align test cases to requirements and user stories.
- Collaborate with development teams to design and build automated and manual tests, develop/test data, and execute exploratory, system, regression, migration, back-end, and user acceptance tests; determine environment needs for automation.
- Write clear and concise defect reports and act as a customer-quality advocate; triage and prioritize defects with Product Owner and development team.
- Conduct exploratory testing to uncover bugs not found by other testing methods; drive testing workshops; ensure tests are readable and maintainable with reusable domain-specific components.
- Apply knowledge of automation frameworks (Selenium, TestNG; BDD/TDD frameworks like Cucumber) and data extraction/transformation testing; produce dashboards/reports for sprints or releases (Allure, Extent Reports).
- Embed with development teams and product owners to infuse quality throughout the software development lifecycle; provide continuous QA feedback on standards, UX, performance, and future bugs.
- Participate in product design and requirements analysis to ensure quality from the outset.
What We're Looking For
- Strong QA/testing methodology experience in Agile environments; ability to lead standups, discussions, and retrospectives from a QA perspective.
- Experience designing test strategies, creating test data, and executing automated and manual tests (functional, exploratory, regression, migration, back-end, UAT).
- Proficiency with automation tools and frameworks (Selenium, TestNG, and at least one BDD/TDD framework such as Cucumber).
- Thorough experience with data extraction, transformations, and conversion testing; ability to produce dashboards/reports.
- Familiarity with reporting tools like Allure, Extent Reports; ability to create maintainable, reusable tests and defect reports.
- Strong collaboration with Product Owners, BAs, and development teams; a customer-focused QA mindset and ability to drive quality across the SDLC.
