About the Role Akuna is seeking Python Software Engineer Interns for a 10-week Akunacademy internship program. You will join either the Post Trade Technology or Data Engineering teams and own a project from design to implementation, with the opportunity to present your work at the end of the program. What You'll Do
- Join a technology team and work with software engineers and traders to design and implement elegant solutions for high-performance systems that process large volumes of trading and market data.
- Take full ownership of your project and deliver results within the 10-week program.
- Collaborate across trading and engineering to ensure robust, scalable infrastructure. What We're Looking For
- Pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. in a technical field (CS/Engineering, Math, Physics, or equivalent), graduating by August 2028, with major GPA 3.5 or above.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. on day one (including F-1 with OPT/STEM).
- Strong programming skills in Object-Oriented Python; experience with distributed systems; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to communicate with the trading team, gather requirements, and implement clean, testable code that adapts to changing market conditions.
- Self-starter, adaptable, and excited to innovate with minimal supervision. Nice to Have
- Experience building trading infrastructure, algorithms, exchange gateways, or data capture/analysis is welcome.
- Passion for building systems from the ground up and for solving novel problems. Compensation & Benefits
- Minimum annualized base salary starts at $145,000; exact compensation varies based on experience and skills.
