About the Role Based in Montgomery, AL, this role focuses on purchasing activities relating to supplier safety, cost, quality, delivery and service for production parts and new model parts development at HMMA. What You'll Do

  • Track, measure, and improve part related Supplier Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Development (S-QCDD) KPIs.
  • Select, develop, and manage supply base for production parts, components, and systems by preparing RFIs/RFQs for multi-year full production quantities; negotiating long-term agreements and maintaining competitive pricing; leading yearly cost reduction activities; monitoring and improving supplier safety, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Enhance supplier safety, part quality, and delivery, as well as reduce risks; write action reports related to effective countermeasures for part quality defects.
  • Communicate the results of supplier process audits and put forward corrective suggestions; develop parts together with suppliers in collaboration with R&D from initial product development stages.
  • Formulate and implement yearly commodity and supply base strategy based on Annual Purchasing Value and other relevant factors; explore available technology and implement best practices related to purchasing activities.
  • Evaluate part designs with engineering, quality, and suppliers to obtain optimum efficiencies; maintain up-to-date supply base information database; perform localization activities by identifying target parts and sourcing local suppliers for new and existing vehicle projects.
  • Align business plan themes and mature the negotiation performance and cost management organizational operating model to optimally support HMMA and HMG; collaborate with internal and external groups, manage stakeholders, resolve issues, conduct advanced problem analysis, problem solving, and decision-making.
  • Ensure purchasing remains competitive and that all potential suppliers are treated impartially and consistently; perform cost studies with comparative analysis; ensure design changes are approved through the 4M (Man, Machine, Material, Method) HMMA process.
  • Work closely with suppliers to optimize processes by identifying inefficiencies and other areas of loss and develop/implement viable countermeasures through the PDCA system; administer, coordinate, and comply with all BMS, EMS, and SMS requirements. What We're Looking For
  • Experience in automotive procurement, supplier management, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, quality, and R&D.
  • Knowledge of RFQ/RFI processes, negotiating long-term agreements, cost reduction activities, KPI tracking, supplier development, and auditing.
  • Ability to communicate results of supplier process audits, propose corrective actions, and work with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with localization strategies, 4M design change control, PDCA, and supplier base strategy development.
  • Strong problem solving, data analysis, and decision-making capabilities; effective negotiation and stakeholder management.
