Job title: Purchasing Lead
About the Role The Purchasing Lead will negotiate pricing and terms with vendors for materials, supplies, equipment and services used by Matec. This role coordinates with multiple departments to ensure adequate inventory while maintaining controls to minimize excess stock and waste.
What You'll Do
- Locate and interview vendors to determine product availability and terms.
- Negotiate favorable pricing for goods and services while maintaining high quality.
- Monitor purchase orders for accuracy and ensure on-time receipt and proper distribution on the manufacturing floor.
- Establish purchasing and inventory policies; create and standardize processes for inventory control.
- Administer online purchasing systems (ERP) and ensure purchase orders and receipts are entered accurately.
- Maintain records of goods ordered and received, ensuring fulfillment of bills of materials for individual products.
- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitutes.
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future materials availability.
- Collaborate with departments to plan and order materials, services and supplies to meet demand.
- Lead or assist in the control of the purchasing department and coordinate with accounting on credit terms.
- Establish standards for quality control; verify quantities and document discrepancies for adjustments.
- Arrange disposal of surplus materials and manage return/defect tracking.
- Develop new supplier sources; ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations and participate as a lead member of Matec's Safety program.
