Job title: Pullet Grower

About the Role Works closely with contract pullet producers to raise pullets to Bachoco USA standards, aiming to maximize hatching egg production in Bachoco USA breeder houses. This role combines farm operations, health monitoring, and supplier relations to ensure cost effective, high quality pullets. The Pullet Grower coordinates with the Pullet Manager to support program goals and ensure readiness for new flocks.

What You'll Do

  • Work closely with contract pullet producers to grow out pullets to Bachoco USA standards for maximum hatching egg production in breeder houses.
  • Maintain an open, working relationship with contract producers.
  • Weigh birds according to schedule.
  • Administer vaccines on schedule.
  • Draw blood for state and federal programs.
  • Monitor farm conditions and bird health; report issues to Pullet Manager as needed.
  • Order feed weekly and adjust feed based on weights and weight standards.
  • Set up farm for wash down and bedding; ensure farm is ready before new flock placement.
  • Directly supervise the Pullet contract producers.

What We're Looking For

  • Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; or 1 to 3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a valid driver's license and must qualify for the company driving program.
  • Physical Demands: Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stand, walk, sit; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Work Environment: The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions; and occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
