Job title: Public Safety Officer - 3rd Shift Weekends (Sat/Sun 11pm-7am)
About the Role The Public Safety Officer provides emergency response, protection to people and property, and customer service within Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This on-site role covers weekend nights (Saturday and Sunday 11pm–7am) and supports patients, visitors, and staff while upholding institute safety standards.
What You'll Do
- Patrol buildings and grounds to identify unsafe conditions and unsecured areas, preventing theft, injuries, or damages.
- Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents for adults and pediatric patients; assist with potentially violent individuals and detentions as needed.
- Conduct preliminary investigations into thefts and other misconduct; gather and analyze facts; interview victims, witnesses, and suspects; maintain accountability for valuables and evidence.
- Prepare and submit clear written reports; maintain logs of incidents.
- Perform fire extinguisher inspections, respond to fire drills, and provide escorts for staff, visitors, and patients.
- May be assigned to special duties (Bike Patrol, Community Service Officer) and off-site locations; cross-train in other locations and shifts.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma; bachelor's degree preferred.
- At least 1 year of relevant security experience; multi-language skills a plus.
- Valid Massachusetts driver’s license; ability to pass initial and annual background checks.
- Certifications: CPR/AED/First Aid; Narcan (Naloxone); AVADE/HDTS De-Escalation Training (training provided by department).
- Excellent verbal and written communication; proficient with office equipment and MS Word/Excel/Databases; strong customer service and crisis management skills.
- Flexible and reliable with strong risk analysis and organizational abilities.
Nice to Have
- Multi-language skills beyond English.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $46,300.00 – $51,400.00 per year.
- On-site work; shift is Saturday and Sunday 11pm–7am.
