Job title: Public Safety Officer - 2nd Shift Weekends (Sat/Sun 3-11pm)
About the Role Public Safety Officer provides emergency response to a variety of situations and incidents to support the department, patients, clinicians and/or faculty. Provides protection to people and property through patrol, investigation, monitoring alarms, and surveillance cameras. Creates safety awareness and delivers high level customer service to patients, visitors, and staff. This onsite, part-time role is based in Boston, MA and may involve special duties and cross-location assignments.
What You'll Do
- Patrol buildings and grounds, identify unsafe conditions, and secure areas to help prevent theft, injuries, or damages.
- Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents for adult and pediatric patients; assist with potentially violent individuals and detain suspects as needed.
- Conduct preliminary investigations into thefts, shortages, and other complaints; gather and analyze facts; interview victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects.
- Maintain accountability for valuables/property and other forms of evidence; prepare and submit written reports and logs.
- Conduct fire extinguisher inspections, respond to fire drills, and provide escorts for staff, visitors, and patients.
- May be assigned to special duties (Bike Patrol, Community Service Officer) and off-site locations; cross-trained in other locations beyond the normal workspace.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred. 1 year of relevant security experience; multi-language skills a plus.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver’s license.
- Must pass an initial and annual criminal background check.
- Must obtain and maintain certifications: CPR/AED/First Aid; Narcan (Naloxone) Training; AVADE/HDTS De-Escalation Training (training provided by department).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficient in office equipment and software (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
- Strong customer service, risk analysis, and organizational skills; ability to manage crisis situations.
- Reliable and flexible.
Nice to Have
- Multi-language skills are a plus.
- Willingness to work weekends and be cross-trained across locations.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $46,300.00 - $51,400.00 per year. 100% onsite work site.
