Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) is a semi autonomous government agency of the Ministry of Education, Kenya. It was established through a Legal Notice No. 17 of 14th February 1986. The Institute is currently run by a council appointed by the Minister for Education. The Head of the Institute is the Director who is also the Secretary to the Council.

Responsibilities

Undertake initial client assessment. Administer counselling contract. Conduct individual counselling sessions. Develop psychological explanation of the client issues. Refer clients to specialists. Document, record and keep appropriate psychological counselling; and information and records.

Qualifications / Work Experience

Professional Membership to a relevant professional body in good standing. Professional Cumulative service period of three (3) years’ work experience at the grade of Psychological Counsellor II or in a comparable position. Academic Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: Counselling, Psychology or its equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution; OR Bachelors Degree in any following disciplines: Clinical Psychology, Occupational Psychology, Education Psychology (Guidance andCounseling), Social Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Anthropology plus a Diploma in Counseling Psychology or its equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized Institution
