About the Role

The Property Data Collector inspects residential and commercial/industrial properties to ensure property records reflect current characteristics. S/he collects detailed and comprehensive property data, verifies accuracy, and records information on field documents or mobile devices. This outdoor role may involve travel within the jurisdiction, and in later stages may involve desktop review.

What You'll Do

  • Physically walk around properties to determine required characteristics and inspect interior and exterior buildings

  • Drive to property locations, verify location, and record data using field documents or mobile devices

  • Measure buildings, perform calculations for large square footage properties, identify use and special features

  • Take clear digital images, collect cost/sales information, and obtain income/expense data as required

  • Update data on physical condition and grade of buildings; maintain production records and logs

  • Communicate professionally with the public, represent Tyler and clients, and address questions or escalate as needed

  • Investigate properties with multiple buildings, ask probing questions, and conduct parcel reviews and aerial image analyses to detect changes and missing data

  • Use multiple monitors and software systems; collaborate with teams to ensure data consistency and accuracy

  • May assist in training new Listers; may be on-site for hearings; maintain regular attendance and adhere to safety policies

  • Perform data collection in all weather conditions and manage workload within project budget

  • What We're Looking For

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent work experience

  • Real Estate and/or appraisal experience preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication; solid problem-solving and research abilities

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to capture accurate data for various property types (residential, agricultural, commercial, industrial)

  • Ability to work independently or with a team; follow instructions; strong spatial and math skills to read maps and calculate square footage/ratios

  • Must be able to travel to properties in the assigned project area and perform data collection in all weather conditions

  • Nice to Have

  • Real Estate and/or appraisal experience (preferred) and comfort working in a field-based environment
