About this role
Project Manager - Pump Repair
Your Role and Impact
Flowserve is seeking an experienced, hands-on On-Site Project Manager to lead aftermarket fulfillment operations at our high-volume Quick Response Center (QRC) in Rancho Dominguez, CA. In this high-impact operational role, you will be the operational anchor on the active repair floor—driving turnaround cycles for critical rotating machinery, heavy industrial pump teardowns, hydraulic rerates, and emergency plant overhauls.
ㅤ
Serving premier industrial clients across California’s energy, chemical, and power sectors, you will manage complex project lifecycles from initial teardown and inspection (DCI) through precision machining, assembly, dynamic testing, and customer dispatch. If you thrive in fast-paced industrial repair environments and bring rigorous cross-functional project management discipline to active shop floor operations, this role offers direct operational visibility and impact.
ㅤ
Key Responsibilities
-
Drive end-to-end operational execution for complex rotating equipment overhauls, mechanical upgrades, hydraulic rerates, and emergency pump repairs directly on the active service facility floor.
-
Translate Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) into actionable shop-floor schedules, actively managing the critical path to hit aggressive delivery windows and plant turnaround/outage deadlines.
-
Lead structured project kickoff meetings and formal phase-gate reviews, ensuring commercial requirements, quality plans, and customer inspection hold-points are fully integrated into shop execution.
-
Partner daily with the General Manager, shop supervisors, mechanics, manual machinists, application engineers, buyers, and sales teams to keep orders on schedule and within budget.
-
Serve as the primary operational and technical point of contact for customer plant buyers, reliability engineers, and field sales teams during scheduled repairs and emergency plant shutdowns.
-
Review contract terms, manage customer scope adjustments and change orders, track project cost variances, and oversee milestone invoicing and payment milestones.
-
Leverage ERP/MRP live data to monitor work-in-progress (WIP), publish weekly progress tracking reports, and implement proactive contingency plans to mitigate supply chain or shop bottlenecks.
-
Maintain strict document governance over customer submittals, approval drawings, non-destructive testing (NDT) records, hydrostatic test charts, and final quality data packages.
-

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, Business, or related discipline (or equivalent practical industrial service center leadership experience).
- 5+ years of dedicated Project Management experience within a heavy industrial repair center, aftermarket service facility, or precision machine shop environment.
- 3+ years specifically focused on technical order fulfillment, service center operations, or industrial plant outage/turnaround project execution.
- Strong technical familiarity with industrial rotating equipment (centrifugal pumps, mechanical seals, fluid systems, API 610 standards, and heavy rotating machinery).
- Solid working knowledge of industrial repair processes, including Disassembly/Cleaning/Inspection (DCI), precision manual machining, welding/overlay, dynamic balancing, hydrostatic testing, and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
- Advanced proficiency with scheduling and tracking software, including Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and enterprise ERP/MRP platforms (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder diplomacy, and problem-solving skills under high-stakes turnaround conditions.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
ㅤ
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent formal project management training.
- Prior aftermarket service center or field engineering background supporting refining, chemical processing, or power generation facilities.
