As a Project Manager in our Pressure Management PMO team based in Bologna, Italy, you will have full ownership of complex turnkey projects for natural gas, biomethane, and hydrogen systems across Italy and Europe. You will own each assigned project throughout the entire Quote-to-Cash lifecycle, becoming involved during the final stages of the commercial negotiation and remaining accountable through contract execution, commissioning, project close-out, and cash collection. In This Role, Your

Responsibilities

Will Be:

• Own the Project from Quote to Cash – Assume full accountability for each assigned project from the final stages of quotation and commercial negotiation through order award, execution, commissioning, close-out, and cash collection.

• Support Final Customer Negotiations – Work closely with Sales during the final negotiation phase to validate project scope, contractual requirements, execution strategy, lead-time commitments, milestones, risks, payment terms, liquidated damages, and other key commercial conditions before commitment to the customer.

• Lead Contract Review and Handover – Ensure a structured handover from Sales, reconcile the customer purchase order against the approved quotation, resolve deviations, and confirm that scope, responsibilities, deliverables, assumptions, exclusions, and acceptance criteria are clearly understood before execution.

• Act as the Primary Customer Interface – Serve as the single point of contact and escalation owner for the customer throughout the complete project lifecycle, ensuring clear communication, timely decisions, and consistent management of expectations.

• Drive Project Governance and Execution – Define and own the project execution plan, including scope, schedule, milestones, resources, procurement strategy, communication, quality requirements, financial targets, billing, and risk management.

• Lead the Cross-Functional Project Team – Coordinate Engineering, Procurement, Production, Supply Chain, QHSE, Finance, Sales, Inside Sales, Operations, Field Service, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, driving accountability and timely decision-making across the organization.

• Manage Contractual and Commercial Commitments – Protect project scope and profitability, manage variations and change orders, identify margin improvement opportunities, and lead the resolution of commercial, contractual, technical, and schedule-related issues in coordination with Sales and the relevant functions.

• Remain Accountable for Financial Performance – Own project financial targets, cost control, gross profit performance, Sales POR and forecast accuracy, invoicing milestones, outstanding payments, and cash collection follow-up.

• Manage Risks and Opportunities – Proactively identify, assess, mitigate, and escalate project risks while pursuing opportunities to improve execution, customer value, revenue, and margin.

• Drive Process Improvements – Contribute to internal initiatives aimed at optimizing workflows, project governance, and resource management.

• Ensure Complete Project Close-Out – Retain ownership until all contractual deliverables, documentation, punch-list items, invoices, payments, lessons learned, customer handover, and internal closure activities are completed.

• Distinctive Responsibilities for Turnkey Projects

• Manage Subcontractors – Support the selection of qualified subcontractors and cooperate with Internal PM to manage the planning, coordination, and monitoring of their activities throughout project execution.

• Manage Site Inspections – Plan and coordinate the Service team’s inspection activities. When required, perform site visits directly with the customer to verify progress, identify issues, and define and follow up on corrective actions.

• Organize and Supervise Site Acceptance Testing – Plan, coordinate, and oversee Site Acceptance Tests, ensuring that contractual requirements and acceptance criteria are met and that any agreed corrective actions are completed.

• Supervise On-Site Activities – Oversee all mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical activities performed on site, coordinating the relevant teams and ensuring compliance with project scope, schedule, quality, and safety requirements.

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Education or Equivalent Professional Experience –Engineering Degree, preferably in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering; alternatively, proven relevant professional experience in a comparable technical and project execution environment.

• Languages – Intermediate to good proficiency in English and Italian (spoken/written).

• Project Management Experience – Proven experience of minimum three years managing complex projects involving gas systems, packaged equipment, or skid-mounted solutions.

• Technical Skills – CAD proficiency; mechanical drawing knowledge; strong understanding of P&ID and electrical schematics; basic automation knowledge.

• Tools – Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools.

• Industry Experience – Proven professional experience in engineered products, pressure equipment, process plants, gas systems, packaged equipment, or skid-mounted solutions, with direct involvement in complex project execution.

• Soft Skills – Analytical skills; negotiation and stakeholder management; ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects; strong time management and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

• Familiarity with PED and ATEX standards and compliance frameworks.
• Knowledge of industrial automation and instrumentation principles.
• Certification or advanced training in project management (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma).
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and deliver projects within tight timelines and cost targets.
• Multilingual communication skills and experience working in international, cross-cultural environments.

• Our compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process. The salary range for this role is 38.000 to 70.000 EUR annual total compensation commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role. This position is covered by the National Collective Labour Agreement for the Metalworking Industry (CCNL), which defines the salary structure and related career progression paths.
