Job title: Project Manager I
About the Role The Project Manager I (PMI) coordinates and executes small to mid-size technical projects within Copeland’s Cold Chain Professional Services organization, focusing on controls, monitoring, commissioning, and field service-driven execution. This role manages projects from intake through closeout to ensure scope, schedule, cost, quality, and safety requirements are met, operating in a matrixed delivery environment reporting to the Manager, Project Execution.
What You'll Do
- Project Execution: Manage projects from initiation through closeout, ensure alignment with scope, schedule, budget and quality standards; coordinate Field Service Managers, Technicians, Project Engineers, and subcontractors; maintain all project documentation.
- Financial & Operational Management: Track revenue, cost, margin, labor, and material usage; maintain schedules, forecasts, and closeout documentation; support monthly forecasting and input to S&OP; seek opportunities to optimize resources while preserving scope.
- Customer & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as primary point of contact for customers; provide timely status updates and escalate risks; build relationships with customers and internal teams; act as technical liaison with engineering.
- Coordination & Team Support: Guide Project Coordinators; collaborate with Field Service Managers and Technicians to ensure field execution aligns with scope and safety standards; participate in account meetings and continuous improvement.
- PMO & Process Adherence: Execute projects per PMO governance and Copeland processes; maintain data in systems; contribute to lessons learned and improvements.
- Daily & Monthly Activities: Review active projects, intake new ones, attend meetings, adjust plans, track upcoming work and capacity, proactively identify issues and propose solutions.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience; experience in project coordination, project management, or technical field service.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to travel up to 25% based on project needs; commitment to safety and field compliance; ability to support field-based projects.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment with multiple active projects.
- Strong communication skills.
Nice to Have
- 3–5+ years of HVACR/controls/refrigeration/technical services project experience.
- Experience with food retail customers; PMO-driven environments; CAPM/PMP proficiency; strong written and verbal communication.
