HMRC spends approximately £800m annually through Statements of Work (SOWs) under Supplier contracts, so it is important that this expenditure delivers value for money.

The Statement of Work Centre of Excellence, within HMRCs Commercial Directorate, supports better commercial outcomes across the end-to-end SOW lifecycle. Its work includes commercial assurance, improved processes and workflows, stronger data and management information, and capability building.

This new role will manage and improve SoW data, reporting and insight, helping the organisation understand performance, risks, bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement. The postholder will act as the principal point of contact for SoW management information, identifying and developing the dashboards, reporting structures and data views needed to support operational and senior management decision-making.

The role will also deliver improvements across the commercial elements of the SoW lifecycle, including the assurance intake and triage process. This will include replacing manual and email-based activity with more structured and automated workflows. The postholder will develop and test prototypes or proofs of concept and work with the Commercial Technology, Data and Reporting team on deployment and ongoing support.

This is a commercially focused data and improvement role, combining data analysis, business analysis, process improvement and solution design to provide clear insight, improve governance and support better value for money.

In return we offer:

● Access to learning and development tailored to your role.

● A working environment that supports a range of flexible working options.

● A working culture which encourages inclusion and diversity.

● A civil service pension.

The successful candidate will:

● Own SoW management information, reporting requirements and insight across intake, triage, approvals, delivery and assurance.

● Analyse complex data to identify trends, risks, bottlenecks, demand, performance issues and opportunities for savings or improvement.

● Define and shape dashboards, reporting structures and data views that provide clear, consistent and actionable insight.

● Develop and iteratively test advanced prototypes or proofs of concept using tools such as Power BI, Excel, Power Automate and SharePoint.

● Lead workflow and process improvement across the commercial SoW lifecycle, including the commercial assurance intake and triage process.

● Translate business needs into practical data, reporting and workflow requirements, working with TDR on scalable deployment and BAU support.

● Investigate data quality issues and establish appropriate reporting controls and governance standards.

● Identify and shape automation and AI-enabled opportunities that reduce manual activity and improve user experience.
