Job title: Project Management Subject Matter Expert

About the Role This position is a Project Management Subject Matter Expert and may be called on to provide expert advice and mentoring to other projects and PMs. It supports and manages projects typically at the $100M level with or without Customer Focus and may manage a portfolio of projects between $75M to $100M. The role collaborates with project controls, finance, and contractor teams to deliver projects with emphasis on cost, schedule, safety, quality, and risk management. It also oversees site-based construction activities and ensures compliance with Entergy policies and procedures.

What You'll Do

  • Define the project organization structure and assign appropriately skilled individuals to the project team.
  • Coordinate with functional departments to meet corporate standards and guidelines.
  • Oversee project team activities and navigate Entergy Stage Gate process to meet SGP deliverables (estimates, schedules, gates).
  • Develop and maintain the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and execute the project accordingly.
  • Ensure project controls for scope, schedule, quality, cost, cash flow, risk, contracts, and communications per corporate standards.
  • Fulfill the role of Contract Manager or Owner's Representative as defined in the project contract and administer the contract with formal correspondence.
  • Promote safe behavior and include safety deliverables in the contract scope as needed.
  • Monitor contractor performance in safety, schedule, cost, quality, and contractual compliance.
  • Identify and respond to issues that could impact project performance with timely communications and actions.
  • Provide clear, timely, and accurate project status reports and presentations to management.
  • Deliver projects with cost and schedule certainty; manage and mitigate risks; turn over completed equipment/systems with documentation and training.
  • Work in both office settings and field conditions.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field or 4 years of equivalent work experience (in addition to minimum experience).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management, Electric Utility Industry, or related field. Advanced degree (MBA or Masters in Engineering/Construction/PM) preferred.
  • Subject Matter Expert in project and construction management fundamentals and complex project resolutions.
  • Knowledge of engineering applications to transmission lines and substations.
  • History of safe performance and active safety involvement.
  • Supervisory experience with direct reports or in a matrix organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management applications, processes, software, and equipment.
  • Understanding of industry best practices and effective estimating practices.
  • Demonstrated cross-functional project leadership, team performance, and ability to act as a trusted advisor.
  • PMP certification preferred.

  • PMP (Project Management Professional certification) preferred.
