It's a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where the work directly supports national defense operations where uptime is mission-essential. We’re seeking a motivated Project Management Intern to work directly with experienced Project Managers, technical teams, and functional staff in executing enterprise-level Air Force IT initiatives. Operate at a scale and with mission relevance second to none.

As an intern, you will learn how to plan and manage projects across various IT environments and learn how mission-critical servers, client workstations, and secure networks are deployed, patched, monitored, and maintained in an enterprise military environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

    • Assist in developing project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, to ensure successful project completion.
    • Coordinate meetings, including scheduling, sending reminders, and preparing meeting agendas to facilitate effective communication among project team members.
    • Track project progress by updating project management software and tools, ensuring milestones are met on schedule.
    • Compile and organize project documentation, ensuring all necessary materials are accessible for team members and stakeholders.
    • Conduct risk assessments for projects to identify potential issues and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Support the project manager in liaising with external vendors and stakeholders to maintain communication and project alignment.
    • Analyze project data to prepare reports on project status, performance, and outcomes for internal review and stakeholder updates.
    • Participate in quality assurance processes by reviewing project deliverables and providing feedback to ensure they meet specified standards and requirements.
    • Monitors and tracks project dependencies.
    • Create a work breakdown structure that defines all activities required for the project deliverables.
    • Actively monitor, track, and manage project tasks, timelines, attainment of established milestones and overall quality of project activities and deliverables.

Required Qualifications:

    • Must be in good academic standing (Rising Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors considered).
    • U.S. Citizenship is required.
    • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance (or possess an active clearance). Leidos will guide you through this process.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook/Teams).
    • High organizational ability, attention to detail, and analytical skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall concepts and methodologies.
    • Experience with Microsoft Project, SharePoint, or Planner.
    • Knowledge of risk management, requirements gathering, scheduling, and budgeting.
    • Prior internship or experience in IT, engineering, defense, or customer-support environments.

You’ll thrive in this role if you are

    • Curious and adaptive—comfortable learning new domains and asking good questions
    • Organized and self-directed, while still highly collaborative
    • Confident communicating your needs and working as an active team member
